After parting ways with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang earlier this year, Arsenal relied on Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah for the second half of the 2021/22 season.

The Gunners duo have deals expiring on June 30th and Nketiah is reportedly edging towards signing a new deal.

With Lacazette set to leave the Emirates as a free agent, Arsenal must bring in a new No.9 this summer.

Mikel Arteta’s side have been regularly named as a suitor for Álvaro Morata, as he still lacks clarity over his future. In 2020, Atlético Madrid let him join Juventus on a two-year loan deal with an option to buy set at €35m.

The Turin club are willing to keep the Spain international, but at a discounted price, which the La Liga side are refusing to offer.

This is reported again by Calciomercato, who add Los Rojiblancos are ‘willing to let Álvaro go’, but not at a ‘significantly lower’ price. At the moment, ‘no offers are on the horizon’ from the Old Lady.

The website mentions ‘the interest of Arsenal’ in the former Chelsea man and further adds the north London club can ‘meet the financial requirements’ to carry out the signing.

However, Morata ‘does not welcome with enthusiasm’ of the option to join Arsenal, ‘given the not very happy past’ in London with Chelsea.
