This week we’ve been covering claims from Portugal that Sporting are getting more than a little anxious over signing Chiquinho from Wolves.

For quite a while there was a widespread assumption that the attacker didn’t have a place in Gary O’Neil’s future plans and would therefore be on his way to Sporting eventually.

Then a little worry creeped in. It was reported that Wolves didn’t want to repeat what happened with Pedro Goncalves, that is send a player to Sporting and see him become very valuable.

Wolves could of course guard against that with a buyback clause or a percentage of a future trader fee, however, it was explained the club wanted O’Neil to take another look at him.

Now Record report Chiquinho has been included in the club’s pre-season travelling squad for the US. They say it’s not the news Sporting wanted to hear, although it’s not a ‘death sentence’ for the transfer either.

The clubs are still talking about a move for the 24-year-old, and that move may now be complicated and delayed by the decision.

There’s an insinuation that Wolves could be waiting to bring someone in before letting Chiquinho go.
