Over the past three days, various claims coming out of the Italian media have stated Atalanta are keen on signing Birmingham City’s Jordan James in the winter market.

Earlier today, Tutto Atalanta said the Serie A side have made an offer of €5m plus bonuses and the Blues are close to agreeing a deal for the midfielder.

The offer sent by the Italian club to Birmingham City is backed up by Calciomercato, who then explain why the club are chasing the 19-year-old.

Gian Piero Gasperini started Marten de Roon and Éderson in midfield in Atalanta’s 1-1 draw against AS Roma at the weekend. The outlet claims this fixture showed La Dea need to bring in at least one new midfielder and the focus is on the Wales international.

The Blues youngster has driven Percassi [could be Atalanta president Antonio or his son Luca] ‘crazy’ with his ball recoveries and ability to set up attacks.

It’s claimed Birmingham City ‘need to raise cash and have opened up negotiations’, after Atalanta offered €5m plus bonuses for James.

Calciomercato claim the Welshman is ready to improve the Italian club’s midfield in the ‘next few days’, indicating his transfer could be concluded soon.
