In the past few days, the race for the Benfica winger André Carrillo seemed pretty much over, with Al Hilal very close on getting the player. That’s why we didn’t even cover the Premier League club mentions from the Portuguese press.
But there’s some insistence that Everton and Fulham are still interested, despite the advanced talks for the player to move to Saudi Arabia.
Today, it’s O Jogo who reports it. They say Carrillo’s transfer to Al Hilal is ‘pratically closed’, with just some details left to be sorted. The player should be moving on a loan deal.
But the outlet claims that Al Hilal are working to ‘win the race against Everton and Fulham’, as if there was a big battle going on.
Everton’s chase for Carrillo has been reported long ago, with Fulham’s interest being published by the Peruvian media. As none of the rumours had big updates lately, we doubt the Premier League sides are really fighting to the death.
But Al Hilal manager Jorge Jesus has claimed that the transfer is not done yet. Speaking to CMTV this Tuesday, he said: “Carrillo? I want him, I made him the invitation. Now there are things in question that do not pass through me, pass through the player, Benfica and also the possibilities of Al-Hilal, who are not decided.”
So if Everton and Fulham want Carrillo, maybe there’s still a chance.
