Bayern Munich have no interest in Aston Villa’s Leon Bailey, but Eintracht Frankfurt and RB Leipzig would like to take him back to the Bundesliga.

That’s according to journalist Christian Falk on the Bayern Insider podcast, with him dismissing recent rumours about Bayern being keen on the Aston Villa winger.

Bailey has found himself in and out of the picture at Aston Villa this season, with 14 starts from 25 in the Premier League to date but his last 90-minute appearance coming in the 2-1 win over Leicester at the beginning of January.

Before that, he last played 90 minutes in the league in the 2-0 defeat to Arsenal at the beginning of the season, further emphasising the role he currently plays under Unai Emery.

This summer could be an interesting one for him as his current deal expires in 2027 and Aston Villa may be keen to avoid him entering the final year of his deal at the end of next season. They do have an option for a further year to combat that, though.

A recent report indicated that Bayer Munich may be interested in the 27-year-old, but Falk wants to pour cold water all over that.

“Not true. Not true. Our first not true today is, of course, a player whom Bayern have actually had on their list repeatedly in the past,” he said.

“He had been offered several times, but at Aston Villa; a very mixed season. There are other Bundesliga teams interested in him, who want to get him back on track, and those are Frankfurt and Leipzig.

“But I don’t think Leon Bailey is strong enough for Bayern’s current level, even though Aston Villa obviously played well against Bayern.”
