Chelsea have ‘thoroughly explored’ a deal for Talleres de Córdoba winger Ramón Sosa and could step up their interest after the Premier League season is finished.
That’s according to journalist Hernán Castillo, who has doubled down on his insistence that Chelsea want the Paraguayan.
Castillo reported on Thursday that Chelsea were exploring a possible deal for the winger, who has been impressing for CA Talleres since arriving at the club in January last year.
Castillo offered very little information on the possible move at that point, simply indicating that the Blues were looking at a deal, with it later explained elsewhere that the Argentine side would be looking for $20m if they were to sell this summer.
Extra now cover comments from the journalist after he held an interview with Fútbol a lo Grande, in which he insisted again that Chelsea are keen and have held talks about a transfer.
“I also know that Newcastle was interested, but the first one to make some progress is the people from Chelsea,” he said.
“I don’t think it’s advanced, I don’t think it’s anything yet because the Premier League is still to finish this weekend, but it’s at least more than sounded out, to put it that way. It’s not just a talk that took place, but there have already been a couple of talks.”
The outlet adds that Castillo has ‘consulted’ with Chelsea sources in South America on the matter and they have insisted that the Blues are ‘very interested’ and have already started talking about a deal.
He adds that Sosa is keen on a move to Europe and has already indicated that by rejecting proposals from Boca Juniors and River Plate, who have both been in touch with his representatives of late.
It seems a deal is there to be done for Chelsea, then, although we remains cautious for now, given this interest in Sosa has seemingly emerged from nowhere.
