Barcelona’s Raphinha has ended up Aston Villa’s ‘orbit’, according to Thursday’s edition of Sport.

Recent claims in England and elsewhere have stated Al-Ittihad are set to sign Aston Villa’s Moussa Diaby for €65-70m.

Sport relay that and then say the La Liga are closely following how the negotiations between the Saudi Arabian club and Aston Villa are progressing for Diaby.

The Catalan club are convinced that if the 25-year-old France international were to leave, the Villans would bring in a new winger this summer. This is where Raphinha would come into the picture for Aston Villa.

Raphinha arrived at the Camp Nou in 2022, after spending two seasons in the Premier League with Leeds United. He knows the league well and it wouldn’t be an issue for him to adapt, if the 27-year-old were to return to England next season.

The Brazil international managed 10 goals and 13 assists for Barca last season, but this wouldn’t stop the club from considering selling him in this window. In fact, Sport state it would be difficult for the Blaugrana to say ‘no’ to his sale if there’s a ‘significant offer’.

It’s claimed Barcelona would ask for €65-70m, which is what Aston Villa could collect from Diaby’s sale. However, they’d almost certainly accept quite a bit less.
