Wesley Fofana played the full 90 minutes in Chelsea’s 1-1 draw against Nottingham Forest on Sunday.
Enzo Maresca has started the centre-back in every Premier League tie this season. His displays for the Blues helped him make it to Didier Deschamps’ France squad for the two UEFA Nations League matches against Israel and Belgium.
Les Bleus have concerns over the Chelsea player’s involvement this month, according to L’Equipe.
The report mainly focuses on Bayern Munich centre-back Dayot Upamecano potentially missing October’s international break. Towards the end, Fofana gets a mention as he has also picked up an injury with Chelsea.
It’s claimed the 23-year-old is due to see the national team doctor upon his arrival at Clairefontaine on Monday.
Le Parisien are also stating both Upamecano and the Blues defender are ‘injured’ and this is a concern for Deschamps.
They state the former Leicester City man is ‘uncertain’ for France’s next two matches. He will be closely monitored by Les Bleus’ medical staff. According to Le Parisien, they aren’t aware of nature of Fofana’s injury.
Fofana has made one appearance for France in June 2023. He was forced to withdraw from the squad last month and there are now concerns over his involvement for October’s matches.
