With a contract at Tottenham ending in 2023, Antonio Conte’s situation is a bit of a worry at Spurs these days.
Yes, there is an option to extend it by a year, but there’s no guarantee that will be triggered, and there’s no denying the London side would like to keep their manager for longer than that.
The problem for Tottenham is that Juventus are struggling in Italy, recently knocked out of the Champions League, which has led to many voices urging a Conte return in Turin.
There have been numerous articles written about it, but the Serie A side are adamant, at least publicly, that they will finish the season with Max Allegri.
What happens beyond that, however, is anyone’s guess, and Gazzetta dello Sport have a big spread on how the Tottenham manager is the man they should replace him with.
Looking at his previous history with Juventus, they also analyse the current situation, stating that ‘all the ingredients are there’ for Conte to make a clamorous return to his previous club.
His contract at Tottenham is expiring, he has a ‘very strong bond with the club’ where he first made a real name for himself, both as a player and as a manager.
They add that ‘anyone who knows Antonio knows that one of the reasons why he has not yet extended, despite the insistence of Fabio Paratici, is Juventus’.
In fact, if they called him, ‘he would hardly say no’.
There is a belief by many fans that Juventus could be in a far better position if they currently had the Tottenham manager at the helm, with Allegri currently underperforming with a strong squad.
As things stand, ‘it is already something more than a suggestion’ that Conte could return, and ‘in June, who knows?’
For Gazzetta, it really all depends ‘on how Juventus react to being eliminated from the Champions League’.
