Harry Kane remains Manchester City’s main target this summer, despite reports of an imminent agreement with Erling Haaland.
That’s according to Sky Sports Germany, who insist their information does not tally with what has been reported elsewhere.
Haaland is available for the bargain price of €75m this summer courtesy of a release clause in his current contract that activates this year.
All of the elite clubs in Europe are believed to be keen on his signature, including Manchester City, who are still searching for the long-term successor to Sergio Aguero.
Several reports in England and Germany have indicated that a deal is imminent, with City presented as the club at the front of the queue for Haaland’s signature and a deal close to being done.
Sky say differently, though, insisting that City see Kane as ‘slightly stronger’ than Haaland and a better fit for Guardiola’s system.
This is backed up by journalist Marc Behrenbeck, who says Sky’s information is different to what has been reported.
“It’s definitely crunch time,” he is reported as saying.
“It has already been reported in England that Haaland is about to move to Manchester City. Our information is different.
“If a transfer of Kane doesn’t work out, and that is very, very possible because the general situation is not easy either, then they go full for Haaland. One of the two should actually be at City.”
