Dean Huijsen’s move to Bournemouth was made official recently and before the transfer completed, we covered a report from Gianluca di Marzio about how the defender wasn’t keen on the move initially.
Huijsen’s father has now revealed that the youngster had actually rejected offers from other clubs to join Bournemouth and that his ‘dream’ is to play in the Premier League with the Cherries.
The player’s father, Donny, has spoken to TuttoJuve and mentioned how important Bournemouth sporting director Tiago Pinto was for the deal.
“We were contacted by Tiago Pinto, the same director who brought Dean to Roma. Other clubs also made themselves heard from us, but the Bournemouth project was the best and hence the choice of the Premier League.”
Donny also revealed that he feels ‘indescribable’ pride seeing his son seal a move to the Premier League, describing it as ‘the best league in the world’.
He said: “So much, so much. Indescribable. We as a family are very proud of his arrival in the Premier League, it is the best league in the world and to see that your son at 19 will play there is fantastic.”
He was also asked by TuttoJuve about the player’s goals for the upcoming Premier League season and explained the defender wants to play as much as possible for the Cherries.
“The aim will be to play as many minutes as possible for Bournemouth, to become a better player and to help his new club achieve their seasonal goals.”
German club Stuttgart were also interested in the highly-rated youngster and it seems as if their loss could be Bournemouth’s gain.
Tiago Pinto has been keen in securing Bournemouth a very highly rated young defender.
