It’s been a couple of weeks since Daniele Rugani’s father dropped some hints about the player’s future at Juventus.
Unhappy with the lack of minutes the defender is having, Rugani’s dad has flirted with his son’s departure from the Old Lady.
But now, representative Davide Torchia has tried to cool things down a bit, saying that Juve still believe in the 24-year-old.
Speaking to Radio Sportiva, he’s claimed that Rugani’s dad just wants his son to be a regular starter at the club.
“The words of Rugani’s father are not a controversy against anyone or the club, but it’s an incentive for the kid to take back the starting position,” said Davide Torchia (via Tuttosport).
But agents will be agents, and Torchia made sure to drop Chelsea’s name in the quotes, confirming that the Blues have tried to sign the player in the past.
“There have been many requests over the years, including Chelsea, but Juventus have never wanted to give him up because they believe in him. Sooner or later we will talk about the new contract, but the clubs decide how and when.”
Daniele Rugani has only five appearances for Juventus this season, despite all their efforts to keep him in the last summer. His current deal with the Old Lady expires in 2021, so they should only offer him a new deal in case they really intend to keep him.
