Charles De Ketelaere has starred for Club Brugge this season, scoring 15 goals and managing nine assists across all competitions.
The forward’s fine form for the Jupiler Pro League winners has drawn interest from other clubs, including Leicester City.
Earlier on Friday, we covered claims made by Het Laatste Nieuws that explained the Foxes have the player ‘in their sights’ for the summer transfer window.
Last month, Het Belang van Limburg explained Club Brugge are willing to part ways with the 20-year-old, and to do that they want ‘much more’ than his market value of €27m.
With Brendan Rodgers’ side hovering over the Belgium international, he has received transfer advice from national team manager, Roberto Martínez.
When asked if he’s worried that a handful of regulars for Belgium are struggling with their respective clubs, the former Everton coach told HLN he is “much more worried” about what will happen in the next window.
Martínez was then specifically quizzed about Eden Hazard’s situation at Real Madrid and that’s when he also shared his views on De Ketelaere.
“I continue to believe that Eden can be very important for Real Madrid, his winning goal against Elche was a boost,” Martínez explained.
“Charles De Ketelaere, on the other hand, is in the spotlight and so are other young Devils. The prospect of a World Cup at an unusual time may play a role for some players in their decision about their future.
“For Charles, this is an important moment in his career, but there is no conclusive answer as to which direction he should take.”
“There are plenty of examples of guys out there would have benefited from staying longer at their club, I’m just thinking of Hans Vanaken, for example, who has grown as a player and as a leader by staying in Belgium and at Club Brugge.”
