The transfer of Tanguy Ndombele to Napoli isn’t the only reason the Italian media are talking about Tottenham Hotspur today.
With Spurs finalising the signing of Destiny Udogie from Udinese, the local press also comments on how good is the purchase the London side are making with the left-back.
Outlet Calcio In Pillole today features an interview with journalist Gianluigi Longari.
Speaking of the 19-year-old, they asked him if the player is about to be a ‘regret’ for Serie A, as he could end up ‘exploding’ in the Premier League with Tottenham.
“Yes, it is an important loss, which testifies once again how the Premier has other investments, as well as scouting activities. The difference with Serie A is the possibility of spending. Udogie is a significant loss and will certainly do very well because he has extraordinary qualities,” said Longari.
Tottenham are believed to be paying €18m to take Udogie from Udinese, but Antonio Conte shouldn’t have him available in the squad for this season.
That’s because the player is set to be loaned back to the Serie A side where he’ll continue to gain experience in Italian football, and then get ready to feature in the Premier League in the 2023/24 season.
That isn’t a low investment Spurs are making, so they certainly believe that letting him staying at his club for a year is the best decision for now.
