Late last week, there were rumours that Leicester City and Brighton & Hove Albion were interested in Charles de Ketelaere.
The Belgian has struggled at Milan since his big move from Club Brugge in the summer, and a French website claimed that the Serie A side could look to cut their losses in the summer.
Leicester and Brighton, who have two forward thinking managers, were reportedly keeping an eye on the situation, potentially ready to give him the opportunity he needs to make the jump to the Premier League and leave Italy.
However, there has been some pushback to that story in Italy, with some not overly convinced about this story, and adding information about what is being said over at San Siro about the future of De Ketelaere.
Carlo Pellegatti, on his own YouTube channel and relayed by Milan Live, said about the Leicester and Brighton interest: “Yesterday, I read that there are rumours related to English teams, such as Leicester and Brighton. I imagine many of the comments were ‘let’s give him away’, Milan are a rich club. From what I understand, Milan hope that the player can rise again. I would like to see him on the right wing, with Leão and Giroud, where he would be in charge of going and making the difference there.
“At the moment, he is very far from the player Pioli expects but I don’t know of any intentions to sell De Ketelaere. If the English clubs came with important money, the thing would be evaluated, but in principle, it’s hoped that De Ketelaere will finally become a real player again, a strong player, who runs, shoots and puts quality on the field.”
From this, it sounds that if Leicester and Brighton really do want the Belgian and are prepared to give Milan the money the Serie A side originally spent on him, which is about €35m, then a deal could be struck.
However, there is still belief he can shine in Italy, and it could also all come down to the player himself.
