Chelsea goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga is now ‘one step’ away from joining Real Madrid, according to reports from Spain.
Newspaper AS writes that the move is now ‘very close’ to happening, as he’ll replace Thibaut Courtois, who has picked up a knee injury.
Real Madrid are first said to be signing Kepa on a loan without a buying option, but the possibility of a permanent move ‘cannot be ruled out’, as that’s what both the player and Chelsea want.
In fact, that’s said to be exactly what the clubs are discussing now, as there’s a chance the transfer could be done with a loan and mandatory purchase.
Following reports from Germany saying Kepa turned down a move to Bayern Munich to join Real Madrid, AS claims to have confirmed that information.
It’s said that the call from the La Liga giants had ‘important incentives’, as he now has the chance to return to his country, just after getting married in the summer.
The transfer seems really close to being concluded now, with the clubs just needing to decide about his potential permanent departure form Chelsea.
