A couple of days ago Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo spoke to Newcastle United sources who dismissed the idea of signing Iker Casillas in January.
Despite that, the rumour isn’t going anywhere. Clubs and managers don’t always tell the truth, and Casillas to Newcastle isn’t being let go of that easily.
Thursday’s edition of Sport states Casillas’ Porto exit could be ‘imminent’, and once again Newcastle United are the only club mentioned.
Leaning on Portuguese reports about Casillas being increasingly close to a Porto exit, the Spanish newspaper still can’t think up another option for Casillas than Newcastle.
A return to Spain isn’t really being pushed right now, and there doesn’t appear to be a great number of options for the former Real Madrid captain.
Casillas to Newcastle United rumours started this time around in Portugal, with Sport Witness the first to bring them to England.
At the time we pondered whether the Casilla rumour had been confused, because Madrid’s current number two is perhaps a better option.
Portuguese newspaper says Casillas in Newcastle’s plans. Maybe they read the Casilla rumour wrong? Burnley and Brighton also in the story. https://t.co/zWdgPr8fRE #nufc #twitterclarets #bhafc pic.twitter.com/1fp1GQuRBa
