Norwegian defender Kristoffer Ajer has praised the Celtic staff after putting on ten kilos since joining the Scottish Premiership champions.

The 20 year old is currently away with his national team.

Aftenposten have reported on comments the youngster made to news agency NTB when asked about the progress he’s made since joining Celtic two seasons ago: “All honours to the physical support and nutrition physiologist at Celtic. I’ve been monitored closely. There has been a lot of very correct training focused on explosiveness. I’m both stronger and faster now.”

Ajer joined Celtic from Norwegian club Start in 2016 and this season he’s been a regular in Brendan Rodgers’ starting line-up. The central defender has completed four of Celtic’s opening five league games, including the 1-0 victory over local rivals Rangers last weekend.

Ajer initially had a loan spell with Kilmarnock when he arrived in Scotland and played 17 games for the club during the 2016/17 season.

His performances for Celtic brought him international recognition and he could make his 5th appearance for Norway when they take on Cyprus tomorrow. Ajer only made his debut for his country earlier this year, but there’s already talk of him soon being the national team captain.
