Luis Palma had a really difficult first half of the season with Celtic, as Brendan Rodgers preferred to turn to other options for the Scottish Premiership club.
During the last campaign, the 25-year-old had played 42 matches for Celtic, picking up good figures along the way. After 12 goals and 13 assists, it was a surprise for the player’s camp that Rodgers didn’t see him as one of the more important aspects of his squad.
The media in Honduras was also somewhat confused at Palma’s change in fortunes at Celtic, and it became clear a move was needed in the winter market.
That move was secured on February 1st, when Olympiacos took him on loan for the rest of the season. He’s yet to really get going with the Greek club, but did manage to score twice and assist once during the international break, albeit it against Bermuda.
Whilst away, he’s given an interview to Diario La Prensa in Honduras, and they asked him to clarify his situation with Celtic specifically, to which Palma said: “I’m still with them, and as long as there’s no transfer, I’ll continue to be grateful to Celtic; but it’s time to defend Olympiacos.”
On José Luis Mendilibar, current head coach at the Greek side, demanding more from him personally, Palma said: “The coach is like that with us, and he tells us the truth to get us to react. I reacted, and the truth is that we get along well with the players.”
