Following Brazil’s first game in the World Cup against Serbia on Thursday, it was not only Neymar and Danilo who couldn’t train with the squad the next day. Manchester United star Antony was also out of their regenerative work, as he was said to be unwell.
It turns out it didn’t take long for the 22-year-old to feel better. The player soon returned to training, and in Monday’s game against Switzerland, he was brought on in the second half and did well for 17 minutes.
Antony had a word with streamer Casimiro at the end of the match, and explained what he went through in the past few days. The Manchester United player blamed Qatar’s air-conditioning for making him sick.
“It was a bit difficult. I ended up having a bad feeling there for a few days that complicated me a bit. I’m recovering well and getting 100%. It was more of a sickness, throat. It was the air conditioning,” Antony told Casimiro (via ESPN).
“Not only me, but other players also had a cough and a bad throat. It’s very difficult for me to get sick, but I’m happy to be an important part of the team. Whenever you need Antony, I’m available.”
Even though Antony is unlikely to be a starter in Brazil, he’s been an interesting option on the right wing, where Barcelona’s Raphinha holds a place.
Since the yellow and green side won their first two games, it’s possible that Tite uses an alternative team in the third fixture and the Manchester United star gets a start.
