Jakub Moder has admitted he is thrilled with his decision making when leaving Brighton & Hove Albion in the January transfer window.

1908.nl cover comments from the 26-year-old today as he looks back on his decision to swap Brighton for Feyenoord.

Moder brought an end to a five-year spell at Brighton in the middle of January, joining Feyenoord in a €1.5m deal.

He was looking to get his career back on track after a miserable spell with Brighton that was ruined by a cruciate ligament tear in April 2022. That saw him spend 576 days on the treatment table and miss 93 games for club and country.

He’s hit the ground running in the Netherlands, quickly establishing himself as a key player and making 19 appearances, totalling 1629 minutes in all competitions. That saw him playing in the Champions League and Eredivisie.

Moder is even back in the Poland squad, featuring in games against Lithuania, Malta, Moldova and Finland and managing 90 minutes in three of those four matches.

Things are very much going well for him, and his career now appears to be back on track, if he can avoid any long-term injuries again, and he admits he’s very happy.

“From the first days that I have been here at Feyenoord, I have felt very good,” he said.

“All the people at the club are very nice and relaxed. That made the transition from England to Rotterdam easier, also for my wife Agata. I am really a happier person since I have been here.

“In our house, in the city centre, we have a beautiful view of the Erasmus Bridge and the skyline. It is so beautiful every morning and evening with sunrise and sunset. A really great place!

“I felt it was a good time to leave Brighton and start a new period in my life. That transfer didn’t happen at the start of last season, and I didn’t play much in the first half. I did continue to train professionally and hard all that time; fortunately, Brighton also saw that a departure would be the best for me.”
