Nicklas Helenius left Aston Villa for good in 2014, and he did so with his reputation in a much worse state than what it had been before the move to England.
The move to Aston Villa was pretty much a disaster for all involved, and everything which has happened since then has seen Helenius develop a reputation he thinks is unfair.
An Ekstra Bladet article on Wednesday carries the headline ‘I’m not a wimp’ and that’s the message Helenius is trying to get over. He’s had accusations thrown at him being ‘fragile’, and not being strong enough to cope with moving away from home, but feels this is unfair.
Ekstra Bladet explain that Helenius’ time with Aston Villa was ruined due to what they call a serious bacterial infection, this saw the footballer go through a ‘dark’ period, and he was even scared for his life.
To go through all that and then get football pundits question his mentality, it’s no wonder Helenius feels it’s time people should give him a break.
The Aston Villa failure wasn’t entirely the striker’s fault and since he’s been stuttering to get his career back on track. He’ll be moving to OB in the summer, and at sill just 25 years of age, there’s plenty of time for Helenius to rebuild his career.
