Everton striker Cenk Tosun has spoken to Turkish TV station TRT Spor about life in England after signing for the Premier League side from Besiktas.
Tosun joined the Toffees from the Super Lig club just over 12 months ago, but he’s struggled to make a real impact since arriving at Goodison Park.
In an interview with the Turkish media outlet the 27 year old was asked about his move to England: “My ultimate aim was to play in the best league in the world. For me, the Premier League is the best league in the world. I worked very hard to come here, I sacrificed a lot of things. At the end, I am here now, and I am very pleased to play here.”
The Everton attacker went on to say he would love to return to Turkey at some point in his career: “I am loving the life here. But of course, I am missing my country and my friends. I am not here to stay forever, I came here to represent Turkey and our flag. Of course, I want to return to Turkey when the timing is right.”
During the last transfer window there reports Tosun could be heading back to the Super Lig with his former club Besiktas interested in taking him back on loan. However, the player has maintained he wanted to prove himself at Everton and in the Premier League.
Despite remaining with the Merseyside club he’s struggled for games under Marco Silva in recent weeks and played no part in the victory over Chelsea at the weekend.
The player’s last start for Everton came against Watford on February 9th, and his last minutes were in the March 3rd draw with Liverpool.
