Not a day goes by without a new story emerging about the future of Fikayo Tomori at Milan and whether he will agree to a permanent Chelsea exit.
The centre-back took to Serie A immediately after agreeing to go there on loan, quickly becoming a key cog in the machine being built by Stefano Pioli, and there appears to be no doubt in the side’s mind: they will do everything they can to trigger that €28m purchase clause.
The club’s vice-president, Franco Baresi, has said as much, but even if they do decide to pay Chelsea their money, the final decision will be Tomori’s.
Everyone in Milan is hoping he decides to stay, as his performances have been that good, but the player isn’t entirely sure about what he wants to do just yet.
He replied: “I didn’t know, but it makes me happy. My mother reads a lot on social media and is very proud. All this is part of a journey, but I remain realistic”.
Urging more English players to try their luck in Italy, describing it as a ‘unique opportunity’, he was then asked about the old song Should I Stay or Should I Go before being pushed to choose one.
He said: “Ah, I’m not the only one who decides. I’m having fun, I’m enjoying the moment, I’m happy to be here. Honestly, I’m not thinking about the future”.
