Leicester City defender Yohan Benalouane has told the Italian media he wants a return to Seire A.
The player joined Leicester City from Atalanta in 2015, but has struggled to hold down a place in the team under four different managers.
Speaking to TMW, Benalouane was asked about his situation at Leicester City and a possible return to Italy: “Serie A is my favourite league, I lived there, it would be a great pleasure to come back. Now we’ll see, the market has just opened, it’s a goal to return to the country I consider mine. At Leicester, I’m not happy.”
Since signing for Leicester City three seasons ago Benalouane has failed to make an impact, playing just 16 Premier League games.
In his debut season he was sent out on loan to Fiorentina where he didn’t make one appearance due to injury. This led to his loan move being cut short.
After his spell at Fiorentina he’s played just a handful of games for Leicester City and will need to move on this summer.
The central defender has been linked with a return to Serie A in previous windows and it seems from his comments he’s still keen for a return to Italy.
Benalouane is currently away with the Tunisia national team in Russia and could face England tonight.
