Jamil Siebert is a 20-year-old central defender, owned by Fortuna Dusseldorf. He’s been in the club’s system since he was aged just 10, and is currently on a loan spell away.
The youngster is on loan with Viktoria Koln in Germany’s 3.Liga. That spell began in January of this year and was then extended for the whole of this season.
He’s been performing well recently and that’s caught the attention of clubs outside of Germany, with those named as Nottingham Forest and AS Roma.
Germany’s Kicker report the Premier League and Serie A pair are ‘courting’ the defender, having been impressed with what they’ve seen so far.
Kicker say the player’s agent has confirmed contact from both Nottingham Forest and Roma, and they quote him as saying: “The clubs got in touch and inquired about the contractual situation.”
Olaf Janßen, Viktoria Koln’s coach, is said to be calm about the situation and has told Kicker: “Jamil is under contract with us until the summer. I’m not going to worry about it now.”
Siebert’s contract at parent club Fortuna Dusseldorf lasts until June 2025. There’s no indication of whether there’s a clause in the loan allowing a winter recall for a permanent transfer.
That said, for Nottingham Forest and Roma, Siebert is likely to be a prospect they’re looking at for the future, so a summer move may be likelier.
