Celtic put in a valiant performance in the Champions League against Bayern Munich on Tuesday evening.
The Hoops held the German giants to a 1-1 draw but went out of the competition because of their 2-1 loss in the first leg.
A stoppage time goal from Alphonso Davies made sure that Bayern Munich progressed to the next round, leaving Celtic and their players gutted.
Goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel spoke to ViaPlay about the result and said he was left more disappointed than angry.
He said, as relayed by TipsBladet: “I have mixed feelings. I’m not angry, but I’m disappointed. That’s the predominant feeling. But when we take a step back in the next few days and analyse the game and our overall performance in the Champions League, we’ll have a lot to be proud of.”
Speaking further, the veteran said: “It says a lot when you come to Munich and are disappointed after a draw.”
Schmeichel also explained that a lot of Celtic’s young players will have learned a lot from the experience they picked up last night.
“You have to take the chances you get away against Bayern Munich. We have to learn from that. We have learned a lot for the future, because we have many young players who have not tried to play at that level and under that pressure earlier in their careers.”
Brendan Rodgers’ side showed that they certainly stand tall against the best of teams and that has been missing at Celtic in the past few years, considering their European results.
Now the focus should shift to the league, where the Hoops are 13 points clear.
