Brazilian fullback Rafael Da Silva has just realised a childhood dream by joining Botafogo, the club he’s supported since being a child.
The former Manchester United player, who’s known to this day for winning several titles with the Red Devils, was now presented at his new club, who are currently in the second division in Brazil.
So when speaking to the local media, he was obviously asked about his past at Old Trafford, and was even quizzed about bringing another one of his former teammates to Rio de Janeiro.
Now with Cristiano Ronaldo back at Manchester United, Rafael da Silva claimed the Portuguese star could be one of those to join him at Botafogo.
“If I could choose one to play here, I’d talk to Cristiano Ronaldo, tell him to come play here. Is there another one? There’s no way,” said Rafael (via Fogao Net).
“I’d tell him not to go to Manchester, and I’m in love with Manchester United too, but I’d tell him to come to Botafogo, come to a different team.”
“We have a group, he’s not even there anymore, I played against him, I don’t speak regularly. But if I could speak… If I send a message he will reply.”
Rafael also mentioned Ryan Giggs, saying the club legend should still be fit to play in Brazil.
“Giggs played very well, very. Of the guys I played, there aren’t many better than him. A phenomenon. Must still be skinny”
Rafael da Silva joined Manchester United’s academy on a move from Fluminense back in 2008, and stayed at Old Trafford until 2015, when he left for Lyon. During his time as a Red Devil, he made 170 appearances won the Premier League three times.
