Everton star Richarlison was a starter in Brazil’s 4-2 win over Peru for the World Cup Qualifiers last night, and scored one of the goals of the match.
Alongside Neymar, the Toffees’ player was one of the best in the game, and talked to the local press about his great performance.
When speaking of his improvement, Richarlison gave some credit to Everton boss Carlo Ancelotti and the work he’s been doing at Goodison Park
“I’m learning every day there, mainly with professor Ancelotti, who works a lot on the tactics”, said Richarlison (via Globo Esporte).
“At the national team it’s no different, I try to get as much information as possible when I get in to give my best. The Premier League evolves the player and I try to get as much information as possible from Ancelotti, who created just about everything. I’m learning every day and I have a lot to evolve.”
Richarlison had an ankle injury when showing up at the national team camp last week, and didn’t even train in the first days. Now he revealed he’s been having an intensive treatment to get fit.
“I’m very happy to be back after 15 months, it’s a moment of pride, of honouring the shirt. I treated it in the morning, in the afternoon and at night a lot, I have to thank the medical department of the national team that made me 100% for this game.”
This was Richarlison’s 20th cap for the national team, and the sixth goal he scored. He still couldn’t find a fixed position in the squad, and played on the right wing this time.
The 23-year-old is now heading back to England, as Everton face Liverpool for the Premier League at the weekend.
