The international break worked for Leeds United star Luis Sinisterra to get the spotlight at the Colombian national team.
Following his goal against Guatemala last week, the winger then did well in a friendly match against Mexico. Despite trailing 2-0, he scored a brace to equalise and opened the way for the Cafeteros to win the match 3-2.
As we covered earlier today, Sinisterra’s performance got a lot of praise from the local media. It was claimed the Leeds player was ‘hungry for glory’ as he helped the team to get a positive resulting in such a difficult time after missing out on the World Cup.
And it seems this hunger the Colombian press has been talking about is exactly what is in the winger’s mind. When speaking to local journalists after the match, he used those words to express his desire to keep doing well for club and country.
“I wanted to take advantage of the small opportunities that life gives,” said Sinisterra (via Semana).
“Enter the field with the best attitude and help the team. I always try to stand out at my club to come to the national team and I have had good performances and that’s why I’m here. I want to thank the teacher for the opportunity, I’m hungry to continue contributing to the Colombian national team.”
With three goals and one assist for Leeds United since joining the club this summer, Sinisterra now returns to England where the Whites face Aston Villa on Sunday.
