Jesper Lindstrøm has insisted he is happy at Everton and hoping to convince them to keep him beyond the summer.
Ekstra Bladet cover comments from the winger today as he eyes up the summer and a potentially longer stay with the Toffees.
Lindstrøm joined Everton on loan from Napoli in the summer transfer window, leaving Naples after a disappointing two years following a €30m move from Eintracht Frankfurt in 2023.
He had hoped to give his career a much needed kickstart on Merseyside but has struggled to do so, first failing to make it into Sean Dyche’s plans.
There’s been something of a revival under David Moyes, but he has so far managed just one assists in 29 games and 1463 minutes in total across all competitions this season.
That’s raised questions about what Everton will do in the summer as they have an option to make the loan deal permanent should they wish to do so. Given his numbers, or lack of them, that seems unlikely to happen.
Lindstrøm would be disappointed if that was the case, though, as he admits he’s happy in Liverpool and wants a longer stay with Everton.
“That’s the premise when you’re an offensive player,” he said in response to Moyes recently calling for more from him.
“You’re measured and weighed on goals and assists. If I could just do it, I would have done it too, but it’s not as easy as it looks. However, I’m starting to find a rhythm and getting more used to playing from the start in every game, so I’m not so nervous about it.”
“It’s a bit up to Everton,” he added when asked about a longer stay.
“Whether they choose to use the option or not. I’m really just trying to show that I’m good enough. The game is working. I’m happy. They’re happy, but it’s just about me continuing to play my way. Then we’ll see if it’s good enough.”
Directly on saying, he said: “Yes. I’m doing well. My family is doing well. It seems like the club and the new coach believe in me. And the Premier League is a great league. There’s a reason why they say it’s the greatest.”
