West Ham United have completed the signing of Pablo Fornals from Villarreal and the midfielder has signed a five-year deal with the Premier League club.

The 23-year-old was linked with a move to Napoli, but Manuel Pellegrini’s side were successful in acquiring his services.

He’s currently with the Spain U21 side at the ongoing U21 European championship in Italy and San Marino. His 89th minute goal against Belgium not only helped his side clinch a victory, but also kept alive his nation’s hopes of making it to the semi-final.

The new Hammers signing sat down for a lengthy interview with Spanish newspaper Marca and after discussing about his goal and preparation for the upcoming fixture, the player was asked about the next stage of his career in London.

He’s clearly delighted with the West Ham move: “I am very happy, happy to take another step in my career and go to the best league in the world.

“I will try to play as many games as possible and learn as much as I can. I am very young and I want to continue training.”

Fornals played alongside Santi Cazorla at Villarreal and Marca asked if he took any advice from the former Arsenal star before agreeing to join West Ham.

“Not at all. Until the last day nobody knew where I was going to go. Not my colleagues or anyone, only my family and me. It’s my business and nobody has to know what I’m doing or not doing,” Fornals stressed.

Marca, perhaps a little surprised, then put it to him that asking for advice isn’t a bad thing.

He replied: “If you want something not to be known, don’t tell anyone, and it was my case. I didn’t have to say anything to anyone, so I didn’t tell until my signing was made official.”
