Fluminense have now officially spoken about the signing of Marquinhos from Arsenal.

As manager Fernando Diniz last night held a press conference, he talked about the squad and confirmed that the Gunners’ winger should be on his way.

Quoted by ESPN Brasil, the Fluminense manager claimed to be glad with the team he has in hands, especially with the Arsenal player arriving.

“Basically, the squad hasn’t changed much for the time being, there are a few more players. But when Alexsander, John Kennedy and Marquinhos is probably arriving, we’ll probably have one or two players leaving. Fluminense has signed very well in this window, I’m very happy with what we’ve signed at the start of the year,” said Diniz.

As reported by the Brazilian media this week, Marquinhos is expected to arrive at Fluminense on a one-year loan from Arsenal, with the Rio de Janeiro club having an option to buy. The local media is still to reveal the price for the loan and the potential purchase.

The winger had few chances to prove himself at Arsenal in his first six months at the club. He was then sent on loans to Norwich City and FC Nantes.

He was supposed to stay in France for this whole season, but with few minutes played there, he was called back by the Gunners. Now it seems this goodbye could turn into a permanent farewell.
