Signed as part of Manchester United’s revamp this summer, Raphael Varane has taken to Premier League football rather well.

Having spent so long playing for Real Madrid in La Liga, it was only normal for him to take some time to adapt to his new environment and teammates, and his performances will likely improve as the season goes on.

For now, he’s with the France squad during the international break, and was put in front of the media for a press conference on Tuesday, where he was inevitably asked about his start to life as a Manchester United player.

Relayed by L’Equipe, he said: “I’m very happy with the start of this adventure. The Premier League is a league known for its intensity. There’s a different atmosphere, a different general mentality regarding football. It’s a different approach and a different experience for me.

“I’m taking pleasure in playing, going out of my comfort zone, finding new bearing with my teammates. It’s a different way of defending and it’s super interesting for me”.

The 28-year-old was signed for around £36m (according to Transfermarkt) and put pen to paper to a four-year contract at Old Trafford that will keep him at the club until 2025.

He has so far made seven appearances for the Red Devils since his arrival, picking up an assist in the 1-0 win against Wolverhampton Wanderers in the process.
