For the vast majority of the transfer window, AS Roma were trying to offload both Cengiz Ünder and Justin Kluivert.
The two young forwards were seen as ideal pieces to move on for a profit, as the club looked to bolster elsewhere and fill their coffers in the process.
In the end, the Turkey international ended up at Leicester City on loan with a view to buy, while the Dutchman was loaned out to RB Leipzig for a fee of €1m.
That’s not exactly the scenario they wanted, but it’s what they got, set to potentially gain more money from the Foxes down the line.
Cengiz Ünder: "Hayalini kurduğum yerdeyim. Leicester City'de olduğum için mutluyum. İnşallah Premier Lig'de kalıcı olurum."

Leicester can make the move for Ünder permanent for a fee of around €24m, and it’s something he’d actually like to happen.
He said as much in a press conference on Tuesday while on international duty, relayed by Asist Analiz: “I am where I dreamt to be. I am happy to be at Leicester City. Hopefully, I will be permanent in the Premier League.”
You get the gist: he’s already chuffed to be in England’s top-tier, and a move back to AS Roma doesn’t seem to interest him right now.
Good news for Brendan Rodgers and co., who will be hoping the 23-year-old has a great impact on the team and their results over the coming months.
