Ederson’s injury, caused by the studs of Sadio Mane in Manchester City’s match with Liverpool last weekend, made news around the world… largely thanks to photographs of his injuries.
The injury required several stitches on the Brazilian’s head, but with Mane rightfully sent off, manager Pep Guardiola didn’t make a huge deal about it, especially because City ended up getting a 5-0 win.
Speaking to the press later that night, the manager took it with good mood and said: “I don’t know if he will be more beautiful after that.”
It turned out that Ederson made a quick recovery, and a helmet allowed him to play in this weekend’s game against Watford, which Manchester City won 6-0.
That’s why when speaking to ESPN Brasil after the game, Ederson was asked about Guardiola’s quotes and made sure to send a little humour back towards his manager: “He’s joking! I’m going to pay for his hair implants.”
