This week, we saw Brentford announcing the signing of Igor Thiago from Club Brugge.
The Bees are set to spend €33m on his transfer, with him only arriving at the Premier League side in the next summer.
With the Brazilian media also making some noise about the move, outlet Itatiaia managed to have a word with Igor Thiago.
The incoming Brentford player showed big excitement about his move to the Premier League, claiming his hard work has been paying off.
“I’m living in a very blessed moment, it’s the fruit of my hard work on and off the pitch. England will be a great challenge, it’s the top league in the world and I know I’m ready to take that next step. I can see that in my time in Europe I’ve learnt a lot and this development is paying off,” Igor Thiago told Itatiaia.
“I’m very grateful to Brugge, the club that opened its doors to me and that I’m very happy with. But my story isn’t over yet, I’m going to focus on winning titles and continuing to play at the highest level so that I can end my career here in the best possible way. We still have a lot to achieve!”
Igor Thiago initially played for Cruzeiro in Brazil, and left for Europe when signing for Ludogorets on a €1.3m deal in 2022. It was last summer that Club Brugge signed him for €11m, and are now selling him for three times more.
Since the striker isn’t very well known in his own country, we’ve been seeing many stories introducing him before he moves to the Premier League, and we should spot many more interviews in the coming months.
