As Gustavo Scarpa continues to give an impressive number of interviews ahead of joining Nottingham Forest, he now spoke to Fala, Brasolho! podcast.

Since the end of the Brazilian season, the midfielder has been clear that he’s joining the Reds. He now even mentions the club’s name and gives a few details of how the negotiation went for him to sign a pre-contract with them.

One of the questions about the move was regarding Palmeiras fans being upset that he’s switching the Brazilian champions for a side who were recently bottom of the Premier League table. Scarpa, however, shows he’s very sure about signing for Nottingham Forest.

“It weighs zero. At this moment, I’m working hard to make a dream come true. I know, modesty aside, that I leave Brazil with open doors. That’s what I was looking for from the start when I started negotiating with Nottingham,” Scarpa told Frala, Brasolho!

“I was very transparent with Palmeiras, with Leila, with Anderson, with everyone. I made it clear what my desire was. And that made the negotiation a lot easier, it made my mental part a lot easier to remain focused on Palmeiras. Having been transparent was very big for me. It could have fooled them, the guys could also have messed me up somehow. But we understood each other well. And of course I think, obviously, I’m going to the bottom of the table there, I’m going to fight. But I know, bro, time doesn’t come back. Player career, bro, that’s how it goes. I know that no matter how much I won at Palmeiras, I would be richer, but I would end my career and say ‘I didn’t have the experience in Europe’. So I’m quite convinced of what I did.”

Scarpa claimed that he had already lost out on a move to Europe in the past, and that’s why he didn’t want to miss the chance this time. So asked if Palmeiras made him an offer to renew, he claimed there was a huge bid on the table, but he wanted to take the opportunity.

“They did, they called me a few times, two or three times. And the last one was hard to refuse, you know? It was really hard. Money wise. It was a thing that was difficult, I confess it was difficult (laughs).”

The midfielder was also asked if he’s already spoke to anyone at Nottingham Forest, and says he’s been in touch with a Brazilian in the squad.

“Renan Lodi is there. I chatted with him, he explained some things about the club, how it works. When I talked to him, there had been three or four fixtures, so it was fine. We chatted more about things like training, the structure of the club, he gave me something about the houses for me to start looking at and such. I haven’t even texted him recently, but I’ll ask. But I believe it’s all fine. They beat Tottenham in the cup. But man, I’m sure it’s going to be an amazing experience.”
