For the past few days, TNT Sports Brasil has been releasing short bits of an exclusive interview with Gabriel Martinelli.
It appears to have been a good chat, so every time they release some new quotes, it’s worth covering what the Gunners’ star has to say.
In a new post on Thursday, TNT Sports shows Martinelli talking his adaptation when he first got to Arsenal in 2019, with him naming a couple of players who helped him in that proccess.
As usual, he got the assistance from other South Americans, especially because he couldn’t speak English at the time, and pointed out two older teammates who are no longer at the club who were crucial at that time.
“There were several players who helped me a lot. But David Luiz and Emi Martinez… Emi would pick me up from home to take me to the stadium on match day, take me to the group. I was always with him and so was David. So, well, those two were surreal for me and I’m eternally grateful to them,” said Martinelli.
It was in the summer of 2019 that Arsenal spent €7.1m to sign Martinelli from non-league side Ituano.
Even though he was just a teenager back then, he already had ten goals and four assists in 26 appearances for the club in his first season in England, and only didn’t play more because of a couple of injuries.
The Brazilian slowly gained his space at the club, and now has 41 goals and 24 assists in 162 appearances for the Gunners.
