It’s difficult to find many people who like Everton-owned striker Neal Maupay, and it seems he can add a whole new group to the collection of people he’s left unimpressed.
That’s at least if Alexy Bosetti’s comments relayed by Ouest France are anything to go by, with him admitting he’s been left disgusted by seeing the striker turn out for Marseille.
Maupay joined the French side on loan at the end of the summer, with him very much not a part of Everton’s plans and having majorly fallen out with the club’s fanbase to boot.
A deal was eventually done to get him out, with the striker spending this season on loan at Marseille before making the move permanently in the summer.
While Everton were very happy with that deal and the opportunity to get Maupay off the books, it did cause some consternation in Nice.
That’s because they had also wanted to sign the striker, who started his career with them and has spoken of his desire to return in the past.
They couldn’t do a deal with Everton, though, with the finances not working out and him instead ending up at Marseille, who have spent big this summer for Roberto de Zerbi.
Salt was further rubbed into that wound when Maupay scored against his former side last week and Bosetti, a former Nice player himself, admits he’s disgusted to see the striker playing for their rivals.
“I prefer not to talk about Neal, because I love him too humanly,” he said.
“He wanted to come back, I’m disappointed, because I would have loved to see him in Nice. Seeing him there, I’m disgusted.”
