With Corinthians having a big fanbase and huge media attention in Brazil, their pursuit of Aston Villa star Philippe Coutinho is being talked about everywhere.
On Band’s show Donos Da Bola, where they spend hours talking about football, the midfielder was warned about the pressure he’ll be submitted to in case he completes the transfer.
It started with their host Neto claiming he’s ‘bigger than Aston Villa in everything’. The former Corinthians and Brazil player highlighted that Coutinho could not succeed at the Premier League side, just like at other clubs such as Barcelona and Bayern Munich, and should be prepared for the demands he’ll have in his home country.
Journalist Carlos Cereto then claimed the player ‘must understand what Corinthians are’.
That was a clear message for Willian. The player had joined Corinthians this year and his poor performances were followed by threats from fans. He soon agreed to return to the Premier League by signing for Fulham, and made it clear he had a terrible experience at the club he loves.
“It’s no use complaining later. It’s no use pouting. Because at Aston Villa you can play well, you can not play well, nothing happens.”
Cereto also brought some information about the talks with Aston Villa, and that were similar to what we covered on Thursday. It’s said the Villans want to wait until the end of the transfer window, just to see if a better offer arrives from a European club. If that doesn’t happen, then Corinthians will stand a chance to have him on loan.
