Leeds United defender Pontus Jansson has again told the Swedish media he’s unhappy with how some of his quotes have been reported in England.

The Swede recently accused English journalists of misquoting him and presenting his words in the incorrect context.

Speaking to Aftonbladet, Jansson said: “I was strongly misquoted in English press. I was asked by a journalist what I think of the Premier League and I replied that my dream is to play in the Premier League but I have always said that my dream is to do it with Leeds.

“I’ve always been honest, people can say that I’m a bad player and such, that doesn’t bother me. But when people say I’m dishonest and say things which doesn’t represent me, then I’m actually disappointed and annoyed.”

Earlier this month the Leeds United player revealed to the Swedish press there was interest in him, but maintained his dream was still to get into the Premier League with his current club.

Jansson may be being a little disingenuous himself, given he was clearly placing at least some doubt on his own future and also said he wanted to talk to Leeds United and find out the ambitions of the club.

The Swede was linked with a move to Southampton last year, which appeared a manufactured rumour and helped up the player’s profile, as a possible replacement for Virgil van Dijk, but a move never materialised.
