Wolverhampton Wanderers defender Yerson Mosquera has insisted he is 100% ready to compete for a place in Bruno Lage’s side this season.
The Colombian defender joined the club from Atlético Nacional in a £4.68m deal last summer, but only managed six appearances in all competitions last season.
He had featured on the bench for the clashes against Watford and Brentford in September, but a hamstring injury picked up later that month ruined his first-team chances.
Mosquera spent the subsequent 156 days on the treatment table, missing 23 games of the season and only returning for the youth side in the Premier League 2 in February of this year.
He is once again a part of Wolves’ squad for this season and stands a better chance of playing time after Conor Coady left to join Everton on loan.
That, coupled with Lage’s decision to return to a back four this year, could provide Mosquera with his chance and he insists he is ready should Wolves want him.
“I’m 100%, it won’t take long (to compete), now I have to wait, work harder and may it be God’s will that I get the opportunity to play,” he told Gol Caracol.
“I’ve always said that I have to wait for the opportunity. I’m eager to go to the national team, I feel good, 100% ready to compete, I’m ready.
“I haven’t had the opportunity to play because of decisions, these are football things, but as soon as I get the chance.
“I will try to give my best and wait for the opportunity to go to the national team, which is what I have longed for since I came here (England).”
