Earlier on Monday, there was a potential worrying update for Manchester United from L’Equipe regarding the fitness of Raphaël Varane.
The defender was reported to have not taken part fully in the training session on Sunday, focusing more on stretching and such rather than being with the rest of the squad.
The Manchester United man, however, was present at a press conference before the game on Tuesday against South Africa, and provided a fresh update on his injury status.
He said, relayed by RMC Sport: “I’m at 100% for tomorrow. It was a hit, but it was just painful.”
That will come as a relief for Manchester United fans, who might have been worrying about the player potentially missing the upcoming clash against Leicester City.
After all, the 28-year-old has already missed a chunk of the season with a couple of injuries, as well as being hit with Covid more recently.
While his first season with Manchester United hasn’t fully gone to plan since his big move from Real Madrid, he has still managed to make 24 appearances in all competitions and provided one assist.
As for Paul Pogba, who also sustained an injury to his foot during the game against Ivory Coast, Didier Deschamps stated: “Paul Pogba will miss training (on Monday evening). We’ll see with the medical staff tomorrow if they (he and Tchouaméni) are available tomorrow night.”
