Watford goalkeeper Daniel Bachmann has admitted he will ‘listen to it’ should an offer come his way at any point.
The Austrian keeper has found himself in a strange situation at Vicarage Road this season, starting the season as number one before dropping out and then returning.
He had established himself as the first choice with a series of impressive performances in the second half of last season, helping Watford earn promotion back to the Premier League.
Thus, he started in goal for then-manager Xisco at the beginning of the campaign, but that changed when Claudio Ranieri was appointed to replace the Spaniard.
After that, the 27-year-old found himself sitting on the bench, with the Italian instead electing to go with the more experienced Ben Foster between the sticks.
That is something Bachmann was less than pleased with, stating on several occasions that he would have to consider his future if the situation didn’t change.
Ultimately it did, with him starting Watford’s last four games in the Premier League before clashes with Burnley and Crystal Palace were postponed due to Coronavirus.
If he remains in place when the Hornets return, then he is unlikely to be as determined to move, although he does admit that won’t stop his head from being turned if there are offers on the table.
“Let’s see, it often happens quickly,” he told Heute.
“One thing is clear: I have a contract until 2024 and will never be the only goalkeeper at a club. It was clear that Watford would get a goalkeeper.
“Ben Foster is out of contract in the summer. So it would be just Rob Elliot and me. I’m not too worried about that. But if something suitable comes along, of course, I’ll listen to it.
“Italy is an awesome country. When I was a kid, we went there on holiday almost every year. The Premier League is the best league in the world, but Serie A is a league I wouldn’t turn down.”
