Casper de Norre had an impressive 2024/25 season for Millwall.
The midfielder played 46 times in the Championship and scored three goals, racking up four assists. While the London club missed out on promotion, the Belgian made a mark in his second season for the side.
Now back in Belgium for his post-season break, the Millwall star spoke to Het Belang van Limburg about multiple things regarding his life at the Den.
He was asked about about his future and made it clear that he’ll consider any attractive offers that come his way in the summer, but that’s not to say he isn’t happy at the club.
“As it looks now, yes. But I am 28 years old now. If a good offer comes along, I will listen to it. But I am happy at Millwall and certainly do not want to leave,” he replied when asked if he’ll be staying.
The former Genk player made it clear that he wasn’t too disappointed that Millwall didn’t make it to the play-offs during the 2024/25 campaign, because staying up had been the aim.
“In itself, it wasn’t too bad. Of course, it’s a shame that we didn’t make it, but the play-offs weren’t our main goal. We had just had a season in which we had to fight against relegation and now wanted to have a quiet year.
“But if you’re still in the running for the play-offs in the final weeks, you naturally start to believe in it. If we had made it, that would have been a huge bonus.”
Speaking of how he performed individually during the season, De Norre said: “I think it’s really cool that I played all the competition matches. After the season I had to recover a bit, because it was the first time for me that I played so many matches in one season.
“Ultimately that was also a motivation. Because the longer you continue, the more you think – Come on, I want to have played all those matches.”
When asked about how he’s adapted to life in the Championship, the 28-year-old claimed:
“I have had to adapt. I don’t think I have ever entered as many duels and taken as many balls away in my career as I have this season. But I do enjoy it and it is also part of the club that Millwall is.
“The fans like physical football and often cheer louder for a good tackle than for a chance. That kick and rush football is really still in here. The fans don’t like us playing out of the back and prefer us to kick the ball far out and start an attack that way.”
De Norre has ambitions to play in the Premier League one day, and perhaps even with Millwall and the club’s fans: “I would love to achieve that goal together with them.”
The 28-year-old’s numbers show he’s grown in stature since his arrival from Leuven in the summer of 2023 for €2.5m.
