As things stand, Lorenzo Insigne will be able to talk to clubs in January regarding a free transfer away from Napoli.
That’s something the Italian club have been fearing for quite some time, and while talks have taken place regarding a renewal, nothing has been signed.
This opportunity on the transfer market hasn’t gone unnoticed, with clubs such as Tottenham and Everton knocking on the player’s door to see if he would be interested.
Accompanying the Toffees and Spurs are the likes of Inter and Barcelona, meaning competition is rife for a player who was key to Italy winning the 2020 Euros and whose stock has risen a bit of late.
That’s why the idea ‘of being able to sign him as early as January is stirring the interest of several clubs’, with Tottenham named among them by Gazzetta dello Sport.
This isn’t the first time we’ve seen Spurs linked with Insigne, and after some hefty spending from Fabio Paratici already this summer, this could be a smart move to add both quality and experience in attack, especially to compensate a potential Harry Kane departure.
We’ll have to wait and see what comes of it, but the longer Insigne goes without signing a new deal at Napoli, the more of these stories we are going to see.
