Sporting finally conquered their first Portuguese League title after 19 years, and that’s obviously all the local media has been talking about today.

It turns out that one of the most important players in that campaign was Pedro Porro, who’s been loaned by Manchester City at the start of the season and has a contract with the Lions until 2022.

There’s no doubt Sporting will trigger the buying option and spend €8.5m on his permanent move soon. The Spaniard spoke to the local media about it last night, and admitted he’d like to stay in Lisbon for longer.

“I wasn’t expecting to have an impact on the team. I’d like to stay, but now I want to celebrate,” said Porro.

It’s newspaper Record who brings the quotes. They highlight the fact that Porro had been recovering from an injury, and when trying to feature in the title winning match last night, he could only hold on for 17 minutes until leaving the pitch in tears.

“The important thing was to support the team. The union made the force,” he said.

Porro made 37 appearances for Sporting this season, and the debate in the Portuguese media is about when will the Lions trigger the buying option with Manchester City. Earlier this week, it was claimed they should soon get big offers for his sale.
