Manchester United’s recent links with River Plate star Julian Alvarez continue to make noise in the Argentine media, where his move to Europe became a heavy topic in the past week.
Now we get to see TyC Sports bringing some quotes from Rafal Varas, who’s labelled as the ‘discoverer and trainer’ that the striker had in his youth years.
Speaking to Radio Republica, the coach talked about Alvarez’s future and named a couple of clubs where he’d like to see the 21-year-old.
“For me he wants to stay a little longer in River to go to the World Cup,” said Varas.
“Julian is going to adapt and explode at any club there. I’d like him to go to Real Madrid or Manchester United.”
TyC Sports then comes up with some information on Manchester United’s chase, claiming the Red Devils are about to have a meeting about making the signing happen.
It’s said Alvarez’s agent Fernando Hidalgo received a call to schedule a meeting with the Old Trafford side and talk about the conditions for a potential move.
Even though River Plate’s intention would be to keep the player for longer, their hands are tied if Manchester United decide to trigger his release clause, which stands at a rather reasonable €20m.
