Last week, when Everton star Richarlison spoke to the Brazilian media, he was asked about his former teammate James Rodriguez.

The forward claimed that following the year they played together, the Colombian started pre-season in great shape, which even ‘surprised’ him.

Then, according to Richarlison, James was told by Rafa Benitez that he was not in the manager’s plans. Now that story was backed up by the midfielder himself.

Live on Twitch, the Al-Rayyan spoke about his departure from Everton and claimed that the Spanish coach did not want him at the club.

“In the end, the coach didn’t want to count on me, it’s the preferences of each coach, some like you, others don’t and that’s respectable,” said James Rodriguez (via AS).

“But I’d come back, why not, I left everything, I always trained, worked and the Everton fanbase is very big and supports well.”

James Rodriguez spent one season at Everton, where he had six goals and nine assists in 26 appearances. He left the Toffees for Al-Rayyan in an €8m deal last summer.

Now in Qatar, where he’s having a good time with three goals and four assists in only nine appearances, he already has plans for the future, and revealed some of them on Twitch.

“United States, MLS is a very good option.”
